Eyala Promotional Art

Some promotional art of Eyala I made for the webcomic a couple of years ago. We sold a few stickers of this image when we showcased an early demo of the Odicia video game at Boston Fig Fest in 2019.

Land Crawler Concept Art

Concept art for the Valharan Land Crawler, a high tech, odicite-powered Valharan vehicle. I originally tried to design some kind of fancy car for the Valharans to arrive in, one, I struggle to draw cars without reference pictures, and two, something about the Valharans using cars just felt off. The Valharans have access to advanced mechanical technology, but the world of Odicia is also a vibrant cartoon fantasy world, so I decided to create a vehicle that ditched the wheels in favor of limbs to give it a more fantastical, sci-fi vibe.

Breonna Taylor

An illustration that I posted on Instagram the day, the hearbreaking but not at all unexpected decision of the grand jury was revealed. Our country's legal system failed to give Breonna the justice she deserves. Keep saying her name.

Captain Mullins Concept Art

Captain Mullins is the first major antagonist who shows up in both the webcomic and game. I tried to design his uniform to be in line with the uniforms of standard soldiers, but with added flourishes and a different color scheme to identify his higher rank. Mullins is inspired by Kamen Rider Wing Knight, played by actor Matt Mullins, for whom he is named. Wing Knight is a swordsman with a bat motif and thus so is Captain Mullins with the added caveat that Captain Mullins can also use wind magic.

Cannon and Fodder Concept Art

Concept art for Cannon (wearing red) and Fodder (wearing blue). When Cannon and Fodder were first created, they were disguised as Valharan soldiers and had no distinguishing features beyond their heights and body types. When I started working on the webcomic, I made changes to the story that resulted in Cannon and Fodder not being in disguise and thus came up with the designs below. Eventually, those story changes made their way into the Odicia video game as well along with the updated designs as well.

The main difference between the designs in the sketch above and the final designs I ended up using in the webcomic, is that I removed the decorative elements from their tunics. Such as the trimming on Fodder's sleeves and collar and the symbol on the bottom part of Cannon's tunic. I felt those elements made them look fancier than they needed to be.

Early Valharan Soldier Concept Design

This is the drawing is a slightly earlier attempt at designing the uniforms for Valharan soldiers in the webcomic. I still do like aspects of this design and I imagine this is similar to Valharan soldiers would have worn in the past before the present day of the story.

Valharan Soldier Concept Art

Concept designs for the Valharan soldiers in the webcomic, The Song of Eyala Troy. My idea was that different colored uniforms would signify different divisions of Valhara's military and different designs on the helmet would signify different ranks. The designs for Valharan soldiers are largely inspired by Kamen Riders, but when I updated their design for the webcomic, I also took some inspiration from Digimon and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Talec Concept Art

Concept art for Talec's design in the Odicia webcomic. Tried out a few different color schemes for his tunic and pants but ultimately landed on this one. I tried to model the glove on his sword hand after the gloves worn by fencers in real life.

Ice and Fire Sketches 2

Two more sets of ASoIaF fan art headshots. The first set is of Daenerys with shorter hair. For those of you who only watched the show and never read the books, Dany's hair was burnt away after stepping into Drogo's funeral pyre at the end of book one. Her hair grew back overtime over the course of the following books. The second set is of the Lannister brothers, Tyrion and Jamie, who both go through ordeals throughout the books that alter their physical appearances.

Eyala Webcomic Concept Art

This is the drawing that largely went on to be used as Eyala's design in the webcomic, The Song of Eyala Troy. The only differences between the drawing below and how she's depicted in the webcomic are the details on her gloves, shoes, and arm tattoos.

Odicia Character Portraits

Today I updated the Comics tab to include pages featuring The Song of Eyala Troy, an Odicia webcomic I've worked on off and on since 2017. We recently released our first public demo for the Odicia video game, which was a huge milestone, and I want to share more of the work I've done for Odicia in recent years. Below are some character portraits I made alongside the webcomic. I drew a lot of portraits like these to work out designs for the characters.

Hero Force Morphers

These are the morphers used by the Hero Force Rangers. I wanted the morphers to have a simple design reminiscent of the power coins, used by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, rather than the more complicated, high-tech morphers used by teams of Rangers that came later. The orange morpher is an emergency/back up morpher. Unlike the other morphers which are bonded to specific people, the orange morpher can be used by practically anyone. It transforms its user into a very basic, orange-colored Power Ranger, with no unique abilities, weapons, or Zord.

Ranger Hero Pink Morphing - Animated?

A very, VERY crudely thrown together movie with the images of Ranger Hero Pink morphing. Featuring the song Beat hit! by Ayumi Miyazaki from Digimon Adventure 02.
