Tiger-Streak 03 - Tenfold

Up next is Matt Marion aka Tenfold. Tenfold has the power to create clones of himself. Initially he can only create ten clones but as he gains more mastery of his powers this number grows. He can also use his cloning powers to sprout extra limbs off his main body. I think I originally wrote that he received his powers from some sci-fi medical procedure after being diagnosed with a life threatening disease. Revisiting Tenfold I’d like his backstory to be a bit more connected to the wider superhero universe of Tiger-Streak, so I think instead of some random life threatening disease perhaps he was injured in a supervillain attack, then received some bizarre medical treatment that no only healed him but gave him cloning superpowers. Then with his new abilities in hand he, rather recklessly, set out get payback on the villain who hurt him and maybe even succeeded in taking them down. This reckless, revenge-fueled heroism catches the notice of Tiger-Man who recruits him into Tiger-Streak. Tenfold’s backstory could also serve as a backdoor to other plots in Tiger-Streak story. Who exactly performed the procedure that gave him his powers? Are there others out there who have received powers from this person? Who knows. Quick note on his design. In the old drawings of Tenfold he never wore a mask, but revisiting the characters I want them all to be wearing a mask or eye covering of some kind. Below is a sketch of Tenfold from the 2010s.

Tiger-Streak 02 - Snelheid

The next member of Tiger-Streak is Brecht Moulin, aka Snelheid. Snelheid is a classic superhero speedster, with superhuman speed, endurance, and reflexes. Born in Belgium raised in New England, Brecht has had superpowers since birth, and comes from an entire family of superhumans with both of his parents and his siblings each having their own unique power. Despite coming from an entire family of superhumans he is the only member of his family interested in being a superhero. As a teenager Brecht used his powers to successfully stop a handful of small crimes in his home town up in Maine, but when he came face to face with his first supervillain, he got trounced. Worried he’d get himself killed if he kept up his heroics, his parents urged him to stop, but Brecht’s first taste of defeat only made him want the hero life even more. When superhero legend, Tiger-Man, caught wind of Brecht’s run-in with a supervillain he reached out the Moulins to invite Brecht to join his newly assembled team of superpowered proteges, Tiger-Streak. Knowing their son would be under the mentorship of one of the world’s most famous superheroes, Brecht’s parents gave him their blessing and allowed him to become Tiger-Streak’s second official member, Snelheid.

Tiger-Streak 01 - Zeus

I was cleaning up files on my computer and dug up old drawings of a superhero team I created back in college called Tiger-Streak. Basically Tiger-Streak is a Teen Titans-esque superhero team composed of young inexperienced superheroes who are taken under the mentorship of a retired veteran superhero, Tiger-Man. The most fun part for me about Tiger-Streak is that pretty much every character in the story is based on one of my friends from my college track team. Couldn’t resist drawing them again in my current style.

So here is the first member of the team, Jon Sealander aka Zeus. Originally I imagined Jon was just a non-magical superhuman who obtained lighting manipulation and absorption powers from some kind of mutation, but upon revisiting him I think he should actually be connected to the Zeus of Greek myth. Perhaps due to some treachery up on Olympus, Zeus ended up banished to earth in the form of a young man with his memories altered to believe he was just a mortal. Under the alias of Jon, he lived a normal life until one day he discovered his super powers and began using them to fight crime. Although Jon has discovered his powers he still hasn’t recovered his memories as Zeus and has some difficulty controlling his them. Tiger-Man quickly recognized Zeus’ potential to be a great superhero and took him under his wing to help teach him control. Zeus’ signature superpower is the generation and manipulation of lightning, but he also boasts superhuman strength, endurance, durability, and speed, and the ability to shape-shift into an eagle. As a nod to his eagle form, and the god Zeus’ sacred animal, I added an eagle design to his mask. Below is an old sketch of Zeus and another Tiger-Streak hero from the 2010s.

Botamon and Koromon

Botamon and Koromon. I've been in a big Digimon mood lately. A few months ago I started collecting and playing the Digimon Card Game and I've been rewatching the Digimon Adventure Tri movies.
